All students will develop and sharpen their acting skills, Joseph will help the actors shape their performances, while sharing bits of the craft, and giving specific direction. This class environment will have a huge emphasis on booking actual jobs, the business of acting, obtaining a NYC agent, script analysis, technique and its application to scene work. Students will work each class, and perform either a scene or monologue.
ABOUT JOSEPH: ACTING COACH
Joseph Melendez, a Bronx native, is a working actor with over 30 years experience in the industry. He studied under Fred Kareman at Carnegie Hall, alongside Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei and Maria Bello.
Joseph’s contagious passion for the craft an unending devotion to teaching has solidified his reputation as one of New York’s up-and-coming coaches. His students have booked roles on: Blue Bloods, Power, The Blacklist, Shades of Blue and HBO’s The Deuce.
Joseph began his career on singing in rock bands before finding his way to the Broadway stage performing in the 2000 revival of Jesus Christ Superstar.
Joseph has has recurring roles in Netflix’s Ozark, USA Network’s The Sinner, Fx’s The Americans and Fox’s Prison Break. Film credits include Fast Five, The Brave One and then award winning independent films Runoff, Akron and the upcoming Blood Bound (2018 release).
ON-CAMERA w/ DANIEL COSGROVE: On-Going Class 4 Weeks Sessions beginning January 15th Wednesdays 7- 9pm Shelter Studios 244 West 54th St. NY
Class is designed to prepare students for professional practice of on-camera acting technique. Participate in the progression of classes. The course was carefully formulated to develop a variety of creative skills for screen acting. Students work with sides from television and film scripts. In addition to strengthening script analysis skills, on-camera acting techniques, and flexibility, students will learn what to expect upon entering an audition room and how to use the camera to their advantage in order to book the job! This course will allow actors to learn not only from their own work, but by engaging in the work of others.
